The Government of Maharashtra has officially approved the construction of 145 rail overbridges (ROBs) over the next three years, a strategic move directed at eliminating railway level crossings and enhancing commuter safety statewide.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis confirmed the approval following a joint inauguration event with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari. The event marked the opening of nine completed MahaRail projects—comprising four overbridges and five underpasses across the Nagpur, Sangli, Satara, Nashik, and Amravati regions. Executed by the Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (MahaRail), the upcoming 145-bridge project will be a collaborative effort between the state, the Ministry of Railways, and MoRTH. Chief Minister Fadnavis lauded MahaRail's efficiency and emphasized that the state is prepared to leverage loans to ensure the multi-year project meets its strict deadlines without compromising quality.
